Woman's sentence linked to Norwood raid

A police raid on a VLA neighbourhood home 17 months ago has led to a six-month conditional sentence and 24 months probation for a Prince George woman.

Anna Marie Elizabeth Thibodeau, 35, was issued the term Monday in Prince George provincial court in relation to a Nov. 17, 2011 seizure of drugs and stolen property from a home in the 2600 block of Norwwod Street.

At the time of Thibodeau's arrest, police said a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine, along with drug trafficking paraphernalia, were found in the home after a search warrant was executed.

They also uncovered a large amount of electronic equipment - more than 20 laptop computers, more than 30 cellular phones, Apple iPods, various video game consoles and cameras, plus a significant number of bicycles and bicycle parts.

However, most of the items were not seized because RCMP could not confirm they were stolen. The predicament prompted RCMP to urge people to properly document their valuables by recording serials numbers, engrave driver's licence numbers on the items and taking detailed, clear photos of items and store them in a safe place or on a portable memory device.

Four other people were arrested at the scene but Thibodeau was the only one charged.

She was sentenced Monday on convictions of possession of stolen property and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Thibodeau had originally faced five counts of possession of stolen property and one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

A conditional sentence means the term is served at home, rather than in jail, and with conditions limiting the amount of time the convict can spend outside the home.

In February, she was sentenced to 22 days in jail for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking following a police raid during the same month on the same 2600 block Norwood Street home.
