A vehicle fire was the source of a blaze that erupted in the parking area under an apartment building on Sunday.
Shortly after 1 p.m., Prince George Fire Rescue firefighters were called to 1438 Queensway St. where they found dark, black smoke coming from the entrance.
A quick attack was launched and the fire was confined to the vehicle, PGFR assistant chief Kevin Woodhouse said, but the residents had to be evacuated from the building while the smoke was blown out of the complex.
The cause of the vehicle fire is undetermined at this time.
