Two people have been arrested and are each facing a charge attempted murder in relation to the shooting of a woman in Moore's Meadow earlier this month.

Both Jeff John Lapier, 33, and Ashlyn Noel Ruth Forrest, 26, remain in custody following appearances in Prince George provincial court on Thursday.

More arrests are possible.

"The Prince George municipal detachment is continuing to locate and identify people who may have knowledge of this matter," Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown said during a press conference. "We have not ruled out the possibility that other persons are involved."

Brown remained tightlipped about the the motive behind the shooting which occurred during the early morning of Feb. 15 and sent a woman to hospital with serious gunshot wounds. She remained in care but is recovering and it's expected she'll be released in the next few days.

But Brown said her safety remains a concern.

"We're doing everything we can to protect her and we have a strategy in place," Brown said.

But the public at large is not in danger, Brown also said. The shooting was "not a random act" and "Moore's Meadow and the surrounding neighbourhood are safe."

Brown described the investigation as difficult due to a reluctance of people who may be in the know to speak to police out of a fear of relatiation. He said the arrests were made after a "tenacious investigation" that involved the execution of multiple search warrants.

Lapier and Forrest are both known to police.

In June 2014, RCMP arrested Lapier and sent him back to Ontario to face one count each of domestic assault, theft under $5,000, breach of an undertaking, and failing to appear in court and three counts of breach of probation.

Forrest's record includes a sentence of two years probation for trafficking, issued in October 2013, as well as convictions for possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.

Both have Facebook pages and in an ominous Feb. 10 posting, Lapier said "someone's going to learn" but did not elaborate.
