Prince George RCMP are crediting an alert officer for the recovery of a stolen pickup truck and the arrest of two suspects early Wednesday morning.

At about 2 a.m., the officer spotted a 2004 Ford F-350, reported stolen from a commercial parking lot on Domano Boulevard the evening before, heading along Foothills Boulevard near 15th Avenue.

The driver sped away but a few minutes later it was found in a ditch off Chief Lake Road near Highway 97 and two men were seen running from the scene, RCMP said.

One was arrested immediately and with the help of a service dog, the second was tracked to the corner of Highway 97 and Lehman Road, more than three kilometres away, where he was arrested without incident.

The suspects names were not released but police said one is 40 years old and the other is 26 years old and both known to the RCMP.
