Town hall tonight for evacuees at UNBC

A town hall meeting will be held tonight for evacuees forced out of their homes by the forest fires to the south. It's will be held at the Canfor Theatre at UNBC, 8 p.m.

A town hall meeting will be held tonight for evacuees forced out of their homes by the forest fires to the south.

It's will be held at the Canfor Theatre at UNBC, 8 p.m. start

Updates will be provided by representatives from BC Wildfire Service, Cariboo Regional District and Northern Health and hosted by Prince George mayor Lyn Hall.

It will also be simulcast to Room 1-306 at the College of New Caledonia and the Wolf Den at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre.

As of late this this morning, 6,029 people have registered at the emergency reception centre at CNC, comprised of 4,811 adults and 1,218 children.

Broken down, 506 are in group lodging, 635 are in RV parking, 3075 have found alternative accommodation and 565 have found commercial lodging.

And about $458,000 in grocery vouchers have been distributed.
