Teen girl victim of attempted sexual assault at Burns Lake park

Burns Lake RCMP are searching for a man in connection with an attempted sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl at a local park. According to police, the teenager was sitting on a park bench at Radley Beach in Burns Lake at about 11:30 a.m.

Burns Lake RCMP are searching for a man in connection with an attempted sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl at a local park.

According to police, the teenager was sitting on a park bench at Radley Beach in Burns Lake at about 11:30 a.m. last Thursday when a man sat down beside her and put his hand on her back. When she got up to leave, he tried to stop her. She was able to run from the area and immediately called police.

Burns Lake RCMP officers responded immediately but couldn't locate the man.

The suspect is described as heavy set, 5’5 to 5’10 tall, with brown eyes, short dark hair on the sides with longer dark hair on the top of his head. 

The victim said the man was wearing a red checkered plaid sweater, black shirt and dark jeans.

"This is a priority investigation and we hope the public can provide some assistance in identifying this man,"  S/Sgt Saunna Lewis, NCO i/c Burns Lake RCMP, said.
