One of two men who tried to evade police in a stolen pickup truck was sentenced Monday to one year probation.

Karl Robert Boreland was issued the term on a count of possessing stolen property under $5,000 for the July 16 incident. He had been in custody for 152 days prior to sentencing.

Co-accused Mason Lee Henry-Larose remains in custody on counts of failing to stop, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

RCMP arrested the two about four hours after the theft of a Ford F-250 pickup truck had been reported stolen from a Nation Crescent home.

RCMP spotted a pickup matching the description near Fifth Avenue and Highway 97.

Minutes later, police received multiple reports of a dangerous driver crossing the Simon Fraser Bridge and the two were apprehended near the entrance to the BCR Industrial site.

Boreland's sentence was also for a count of possessing stolen property from a June 28 incident.
