Prince George RCMP are looking for a suspect who stole a parked taxi, last week.

The driver of the taxi had started the vehicle to warm it up early on the morning of Feb. 23, at a home in the 3600-block on Romanin Place.

The driver left the keys in the running vehicle, and when he returned 15 minutes later – just before 5 a.m. – the taxi was gone, according to a statement issued by the RCMP.

Police officers were able to locate taxi roughly 25 minutes later, parked and unoccupied. A surveillance from inside the taxi captured an image of the suspect's face.

“Once again, police are reminding the public that it is not safe to leave your running vehicle, with the keys inside, unoccupied for any length of time," Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper said. "It takes mere seconds for thieves to take your vehicle in these circumstances."

Anyone with information about the suspect or the theft of the taxi is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300. Tips can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca (English only).
