RCMP are asking potential victims in Dawson Creek and Prince George to come forward as they investigate an alleged child sexual assault.
The accused, 31-year-old Kevin James Belcourt, has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of sexual interference, one count of luring via telecommunications and two counts of administering a noxious substance.
Police are anticipating a number of other charges.
The victim is believed to be under the age of 16. Information that could lead to the identification of the victim is not being released due to the victim's age.
Belcourt's arrest was made following an investigation that began June 12 after Dawson Creek RCMP received a tip from the B.C. Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Police carried out a number of search warrants on a residence in the city, uncovering images and information that led them to believe there are a number of additional victims yet to be identified.
"We believe there are a lot more victims," Sgt. Ed Reinink told the Alaska Highway News.
"That is why we are taking the unusual step to put out this press release and identify him simply because we have very strong concerns that there's a number of unknown victims [in both Prince George and Dawson Creek]."
Belcourt is known to police, previously having been arrested and charged with a number of crimes in the Dawson Creek area.
He was found guilty of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking in 2010 and carrying a concealed weapon or prohibited device/ammunition in 2004.
Police say Belcourt is known to reside in both Dawson Creek and Prince George.

None of the charges against Belcourt have been proven in court.
He is currently in custody in Dawson Creek and is set to make his first court appearance Tuesday.
