A former mixed martial arts fighter who was accused of stealing a puppy has been sentenced to two years probation.

Ryan Timothy Chiappe, 37, was issued the term Friday in Prince George provincial court for three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and one count each of assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, and breach of an undertaking or recognizance.

Chiappe was arrested Dec. 5, 2014, after police pulled him over and found the allegedly stolen dog in his vehicle.

Prince George RCMP then executed a search warrant on a Minotti Drive home associated with Chiappe and found two stolen motor bikes, police said at the time.

According to Tapology, a website devoted to mixed martial arts, Chiappe had a record of 10 wins and eight losses, his most recent fight a first-round knockout win in August 2013 at the Five Star Fight League 8 Barefoot Beach Battle in Penticton.

Since then, five fights involving Chiappe have been cancelled and an injury to Chiappe has been posted as the reason for one cancellation.

The website lists him as born in Prince George but fighting out of Vancouver.

It now appears he lives in Kelowna.

That's where he must report to a probation officer according to the conditions of his probation.

On Friday, he was also assessed $200 in victim surcharges for one count each of breach of probation and breach of undertaking or recognizance, both committed in the Okanagan city.

Two more charges of breach of undertaking or recognizance from an alleged Dec. 12, 2014 incident in Mackenzie were stayed as were charges of extortion, attempting to pervert justice, breach of undertaking or recognizance and two counts of theft $5,000 or under from the Prince George incident.

In June, Chiappe was sentenced in Port Coquitlam provincial court to three days in jail for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and in July he received the same term for two more counts of possession of a controlled substance, all committed in February 2014 in the Lower Mainland community.

Chiappe was affiliated with Langley-based Revolution Martial Arts and Fitness, according to Tapology, and according to another website, Gangsters Out, Revolution has had ties to the Hells Angels.

He was also ordered to pay $1,000 in victim surcharges and issued a two-year firearms prohibition.

Conditions of his probation include no contact with the victim.
