A man well known to the police and courts is back in custody after allegedly colliding with several RCMP vehicles while trying to flee police in a stolen pickup truck.
Eric Wayde Thor Johnson, 37, was arrested early morning January 5 after the Prince George RCMP came across a pickup reported stolen in Burn Lake on December 15. When the detachment's street crew unit moved in to make an arrest, the driver attempted to flee and hit the vehicles, RCMP said. Johnson was arrested along with one other person who was later released.
Describing him as a prolific offender, RCMP said Johnson was arrested in October under similar circumstances. Johnson remains in custody after his bail was revoked following the most recent arrest and both matters remain before the court.
He was last in the news in 2016 when he was sentenced to 18 months probation for his role in the theft of a pickup truck and copper wire from a local business.
