North Central Seniors Association was filled with hoopla Friday as about 30 seniors celebrated the end of the club's season at College Heights Baptist Church.

President Howard Foot couldn't tell the happy bunch what the last day of the three-day follies entailed.

"Because I don't think they would have showed up," laughed Foot. "But it's all just for fun and that's what we try to do every day we're here - just have a lot of laughs."

He had everyone divied up into four groups and each team player had to hula hoop their way through time trials to rack up points for the team.

First, the seniors had a hoop around one arm and kept it spinning, then two arms, around their neck and finally the classic hula hoop move of spinning it around their waist.

Not a one could manage the classic move but there was plenty of original moves that were suddenly classic, going down in Seniors Follies' history for sheer enthusiasm.

With lots of ribbing and friendly teasing every member of the club in attendance took a turn to showcase their newfound and as yet unexplored talents.

During the first day of the follies, it was a less rambunctious time for word play and word association games to score points, the second day was a rather flamboyant game of tiddlywinks and finally the hula hooping grand finale enjoyed by all that concluded with a barbecue.

"It's been a great year and this is my last year of my two-year term as president," said Foot. "We have several members who attend the other seniors' club and they always say this is the most fun of all. It's probably the smallest one, too."

There are about 80 members in the North Central Seniors Association but most days there's about 30 people who show up for events like the follies and year-end barbecue.

"Thank you," said Foot as part of his message to the North Central Seniors as outgoing president. "It's been a hellova lot of fun."
