A kayaker was found Wednesday morning after he went missing while paddling along the Willow River.
Prince George RCMP said he and a partner had dipped into the river on Tuesday about 30 kilometres upstream from where it intersects Highway 16.
RCMP were alerted at about 2 a.m. Wednesday after one of them failed to arrive at the rendezvous point.
RCMP continued patrols throughout the night and, at first light, Prince George Search and Rescue volunteers and an RCMP helicopter were mobilized.
At about 8:30 a.m., the man was spotted from the helicopter and was airlifted to paramedics to be assessed, although it appeared he had no major injuries.
"This incident should be a reminder to the public that our river systems are very high and very fast moving," RCMP said. "All water activities on rivers in our area are discouraged.
"If persons choose to participate in activities on rivers in our area, all precautions, especially wearing life jackets, should be taken."
