The Prince George Cougars' top scorer from a season ago is back in their lineup.
Vladislav Mikhalchuk is expected to arrive in Prince George on Thursday, the team said, and could make his season debut Friday, when the Cougars face the Victoria Royals at the CN Centre.
After amassing 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points in 68 games last season, he opted to play in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia this campaign but appears to have had a change of heart.
While in Russia, he split the season between the KHL's Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and its affiliate Torpedo-Gorky in the Vysshaya Hokkeinaya Liga (VHL).
In a corresponding move, the team has traded import forward Matéj Toman to the Saskatoon Blades, in exchange for a sixth-round selection in 2021 Western Hockey League bantam draft
The Cougars take on the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight at CN Centre, 7 p.m. start.
