Legal action against Canada Winter Games dismissed

A local hotel's lawsuit against the Prince George Canada Winter Games Host Society has been dismissed with the sides paying their own costs, according to court records.

Esther's Inn Ltd. had claimed in a September 2016 filing at the courthouse that the Society owed it almost $78,000 for rooms reserved at the hotel. However, in a response, the Society said Esther's failed to live up to its side of the bargain.

The Society had been seeking 83 rooms during the games, held in February 2015, but Esthers provided only 65 during the first week and 61 during the second. Moreover, it said the hotel billed society for 93 rooms plus meals and charges and issued two additional invoices for accommodations and services previously invoiced and paid in full by the society.

The lawsuit was dismissed in November with the sides to pay their own costs.
