Human remains found east of city

Human remains have been recovered near Highway 16 about 40 kilometres east of the city,

Prince George RCMP said Wednesday.

With the help of Prince George Search and Rescue, they were recovered the remains on Saturday afternoon, RCMP said.

"This investigation is in its early stages, however police do not believe there are any public safety concerns," RCMP said and added the BC Coroners Service has been notified and has started a parallel investigation to determine cause of death.

Further details may be released as the investigation continues.
