Drugs found during routine traffic stop at Purden

A 56-year-old male driver of a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped Tuesday, Feb. 24 when he sped along Highway 16 East at the Purden Mountain entrance, which has a temporarily reduced speed limit for the safety of those at the Canada Winter Games events held at the ski resort.

After the North District Regional Provincial Traffic Services unit pulled the man over, and an officer spoke with the driver, there was an investigation conducted where a large quantity of drugs was found. The officer discovered 30 grams of Methamphetamine and 3 kgs of Cannabis.

The male driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking and transported to the Prince George RCMP detachment where he was released on a promise to appear for a later court date.
