A purported smartphone repair shop located two doors down from the needle exchange at Third and George was the scene late Friday afternoon of a drug-related takedown by the Prince George RCMP.

Speaking to local media who had gathered in front of the location, Supt. Warren Brown said the investigation began about a month ago when the detachment received information drugs were being trafficked out of the store, called The Edge.

"Taking into the account the source and credibility of the information and ensuring safety of the people who talked to us, it's taken some time for us to gather enough evidence to get a search warrant," Brown said.

As media looked on three men in handcuffs were escorted to RCMP SUVs were parked out in front. Several mounties, both in uniform and in plain clothes were on the scene.

Brown said it's suspected an array of mostly hard street drugs, that could include heroin, were being sold out of the store. Prior to that, the site was home to a payday loan store.
