The co-founder of the Northern Ugandan Development Foundation was declared one of the Top 10 CBC Champions of Change.
Dr. Christopher Opio has been instrumental in bringing clean water as well as farming and educational support to the people of Northern Uganda.
Opio has worked with local students in promoting his work and in showing children how they can help to make a difference in other people's lives.
Recently, Opio presented an awareness event where leadership students from five Prince George schools gathered to hear his message.
Immaculate Conception school is one of many schools in the community that will fundraise for the Northern Ugandan Development Foundation with the focus on education.
From the top 10 Champions of Change there will be one international and one domestic champion chosen and each will receive $25,000 for the charitable organization of their choice. The remaining eight champions will each get $10,000 for their charity.
Deadline to vote is 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2011 and 10 votes from each person will be counted.
Prizes will be awarded to all Champions of Change during a gala held in the CBC Toronto studios Sunday, Jan. 16.
