Carport fire sees $250,000 in damages

Prince George Fire Rescue doused a fire in the carport of a 2100 block Tamarack Street home early Monday morning. Firefighters from three halls were called to the scene at 4:40 a.m.

Prince George Fire Rescue doused a fire in the carport of a 2100 block Tamarack Street home early Monday morning.

Firefighters from three halls were called to the scene at 4:40 a.m. where they found the structure, and the two vehicles inside, fully involved. Firefighters knocked the blaze down on three sides and covered the exposure on another, PGFR assistant chief Kevin Scobie said.

Damage to the home is estimated at $250,000 while a neighouring home suffered an estimated $10,000 damage.

All six of the home's occupants made it out safely.
