Police have made arrests in connection with the spree of gunplay in the city.

Backed by the North District RCMP's emergency response team, Prince George RCMP executed a search warrant early this morning on a 400-block South Lyon Street home in the Spruceland area.

Eight adults were arrested and two loaded firearms along with ammunition and a 'stun' gun were seized as a result.

Two men, ages 21 and 28, were held in custody and were to appear in court today pending charge approval from Crown counsel.

"Both are well known to police and have a history of violence," RCMP said. "Six others were released pending further investigation and charge assessment from the B.C. Prosecution Service."

RCMP said the development are a direct result of the on-going investigation into the jump in gunplay in the city that's seen two people struck with gunfire and a trio of homes targeted in drive-by shootings. A house was also set on fire in relation to the spree that police believe stems from a drug-related rivalry between two groups.

"The investigation is continuing and further police action is likely," RCMP said.

Anyone with information about this conflict or the persons involved, is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca (English only).
