HAMILTON — The road to the Grey Cup officially goes through Hamilton.

The Tiger-Cats clinched a playoff berth and guaranteed a post-season game at home on Monday after the Montreal Alouettes' 12-6 loss to the Calgary Stampeders.

Hamilton has now made the playoffs in five of its past six seasons (2013 to 2018), hosting a home playoff game every year.

With four games remaining in the regular season, the Tiger-Cats (7-7-0, 14 points) trail the Ottawa Redblacks (8-6-0, 16 points) by two points and can finish no worse than second in the CFL's East Division.

Hamilton and Ottawa square off twice more this season. First on Oct. 19 in Ottawa and then on Oct. 27 at Tim Hortons Field, the Ticats' home.

Hamilton will host either the Eastern semifinal on Nov. 11 or the Eastern final on Nov. 18
