Remparts' offence struggles, but they're winning in QMJHL early going

QUEBEC — The Quebec Remparts have only scored four goals in two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games, but they've got two wins to show for it.

The Remparts, who blanked the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 1-0 on Friday in their regular-season opener, beat the Victoriaville Tigres 3-1 on Saturday at Centre Videotron.

Lucas Canning, Frantisek Ridzon and Davis Cooper scored for the Remparts, who enjoyed period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.

Nikita Prishchepov scored for the Tigres at 15:56 of the third to spoil the host's shutout bid. The Tigres outshot the Remparts 31-24.

In other action, Baie-Comeau Drakkar literally turn on the lights for their home opener by thumping the Rimouski Oceanic 7-1.

Justin Poirier scored three goals for the Drakkar, with singles netted by Isaac Dufort, Xavier Fortin, Matyas Melovsky and Mael Lavigne. Fortin also had three assists.

Quinn Kennedy scored the lone goal for the visitors, 48 seconds into the game.

Baie-Comeau outshot the Oceanic 36-25 and led 3-1 and 4-1 after periods.

The Val-d'Or Foreurs unplugged the host Drummondville Voltigeurs 7-2 as seven different goal scorers supplied the offence for the visitors, who evened their record to 1-1 following Friday's 4-2 loss to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. The Voltigeurs slipped to 0-2.

Tomas Cibulka, William Provost, Zachael Turgeon, Alexandre Doucet, Thomas Larouche, Nathan Bolduc and Zigmund Zold scored for the winners.

Luke Woodworth and Lukas Landry scored for the Voltigeurs, who outshot the Foreurs 37-29.

The Sherbrooke Phoenix won their second game in as many nights by slipping past the visiting Chioutimi Sagueneens 4-1.

Milo Roelens, Justin Gill, Christophe Rondeau and Ethan Gauthier scored for the Phoenix, who outshot the visitors 32-22.

Sherbrooke beat Gatineau Olympiques 3-1 on Friday.

Antoine Desrochers scored for Chicoutimi, who lost their season opener 1-0 to the Quebec Remparts.

The team were tied 1-1 after the first period and Sherbrooke led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Jakub Hujer scored twice and added an assist as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies unleashed their offence on the host Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in a 5-2 victory.

The Huskies, who outshot the Armada 18-3 in the first period and 44-17 overall, also got goals from Daniil Bourash, Bill Zonnon and Leighton Carruthers.

Mikael Denis and Xavier Sarrasin scored for the Armada, who trailed 4-1 after the first period and 4-1 entering the third.

Huskies won their season opener on Friday by beating the host Shawinigan Cataractes 6-3.
