Italy's Alessia Nobilio leads world junior girls golf championship

OTTAWA — Italy's Alessia Nobilio has a two-shot lead after the opening round of the world junior girls golf championship. Nobilio, ranked 22nd in the world amateur rankings, shot a 6-under 66 at Camelot Golf and Country Club.

Nobilio, ranked 22nd in the world amateur rankings, shot a 6-under 66 at Camelot Golf and Country Club. She's two ahead of Brooke Seay of the United States and Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand.

Vancouver's Tiffany Kong and Celeste Dao of Notre-Dame-de-l'Ile-Perrot, Que., are the top Canadians. They're tied for 11th after shooting 73.

The United States and Thailand are tied for first in the team competition at 6 under. Canada 1 is tied for sixth at 2 over.

The 72-hole event features 57 players from 18 countries.
