Canadian ski cross racer Dave Duncan, who was involved in an alleged car theft and drunk-driving incident at the end of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, has announced his retirement.
The 36-year-old from London, Ont., made the announcement on Twitter.
Duncan, his wife Maja and Alpine Canada ski cross athletic director Willy Raine were arrested by Gangwon provincial police in late February after a red Hummer was allegedly stolen and driven to the athletes' village. They were detained, missed the Games' closing ceremony and fined $1,176.
Raine was also charged with driving with a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.16. South Korea's legal limit is 0.05.
Alpine Canada said in a statement in March that Raine, the son of Canadian skiing great Nancy Greene-Raine, was resigning from his role and Duncan would be suspended indefinitely.
In the statement, Alpine Canada said Duncan and Raine believed they were authorized to use the vehicle to return to the athletes' village.
Both Canadians apologized after the incident.
Duncan, a two-time medallist at the Winter X Games, finished eighth in the men's ski cross in Pyeongchang.
