A name change seems to have brought good fortune to the Northland Dodge Northern Cougars. The former Prince George Female Cougars finished their exhibition hockey season with a tie and win in Kelowna on the weekend against B.C.

A name change seems to have brought good fortune to the Northland Dodge Northern Cougars.

The former Prince George Female Cougars finished their exhibition hockey season with a tie and win in Kelowna on the weekend against B.C. Major Midget Female League rival Okanagan Rockets.

In Saturday's game, the Cougars and Rockets played to a 1-1 tie. Lauren Smaha-Muir had the goal for the Cougars. On Sunday, the Cougars blasted the Rockets 6-0 as Tessa Hare scored two goals while Taylor Beck, Sage Desjardins, Marissa Nichol and Hunter Mosher had singles.

The regular season starts this weekend as the Cougars host the Rockets for three games, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Kin 2.
