Yeomans the quickest sprinter

Nobody came close to catching Jamie Yeomans. In Sunday's Prince George Citizen Triathlon, Yeomans did the women's sprint race -- a 0.75-kilometre swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run -- and was the dominant athlete in the field.

In Sunday's Prince George Citizen Triathlon, Yeomans did the women's sprint race -- a 0.75-kilometre swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run -- and was the dominant athlete in the field. She finished in a time of one hour 22 minutes 57 seconds, well ahead of Amy Ballantyne, who completed her race in 1:28:03. Aneta Douglass, with a clocking of 1:28:10, was just steps behind Ballantyne at the finish line. All three women are Prince George residents.

In the men's sprint race, Paul Kennedy outpaced all his rivals. He posted a time of 1:14:01 and beat Greg Tone (1:17:05) and David Osmond (1:19:42) to the finish. Kennedy is from Prince George, while Tone and Osmond hail from Vanderhoof and Quesnel respectively.

The sprint team event title went to All Brand, formed by Kevin Brand and Kristopher Brand. The Brand boys, from Quesnel and Maryville, clocked in at 1:20:16.

In the Olympic race, which included a 1.5km swim, 20km bike ride and 10km run, Smokin' Aces tore up the course in a winning time of 2:13:03. Smokin' Aces was formed by Pat Turner, Dan Bedard and Mike Smith.

In the duathlon -- two 5km runs sandwiched around a 20km bike ride -- Dennis Balogh was the men's champion and Carla Dunn claimed the women's title. Balogh's time was 2:10:55 and Dunn completed her race in 2:20:31.
