Grapplers are ready to begin their quest for gold.
The B.C. high school wrestling championships starts today at the Northern Sport Centre. Matches will get underway at 9 a.m. and will wrap up at about 8 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament will resume at 9 a.m. Preliminary bouts will go until about 11 a.m. A break will follow, and the medal finals in all weight classes will start at 2 p.m.
Admission is free, except for the finals, which will cost $5 to attend.
The championships will bring together about 450 wrestlers in Grades 8 through 12.
This is just the third time the high school wrestling provincials have been held in Prince George. The other years were 1991 and 2006.
