It was a short Olympic debut for Leah Callahan.

The wrestler who started in the sport when she was going to high school in Mackenzie lost her first match Thursday at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the 72-kilogram category, taking her out of medal contention.

The 26 year old lost 3-0 on points to Burmaa Ochirbat of Mongolia. The gold medal went to Natalia Vorobieva of Russia with Bulgaria's Stanka Zlateva Hristove picking up the silver. The bronze medals went to Guzel Manyurova of Kazakhstan and Maider Unda of Spain.

Callahan's parents are teachers in Prince George.
