UNBC women's Timberwolves basketball team took on the University of Regina Cougars and won short-handed Saturday night.

Short-handed with only six players the UNBC Timberwolves made a comeback to overtake the University of Regina Cougars Saturday night with a score of 76-71.

Maria Mongomo led the way with 27 points, 15 rebounds, and four steals, while Emma vanBruinessen was a force on the glass with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Madison Landry had 15 points and eight assists, while Emily Holmes went for 12 points and four assists. Because they were short players, Mongomo played 36 minutes, vanBruinessen played 38, Landry was out there for 37 and Holmes played the entire 40 minutes.

Macaela Crone was the offensive engine for the Cougars, with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Faith Reid made four three-pointers for 12 points, while Michaela Kleisinger had her usual complete game, scoring 13 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight assists. Alexi Rowden added eight points and 14 boards.

This is the UNBC women's Timberwolves sixth consecutive win, improving their record to an even 9-9. Theyl host the Grant MacEwan Griffins next week to complete their Canada West schedule.
