Prince George Motocross rider Hayden Wolff , 14, tested the 2015 Kawasaki KX250 bikes during a visit to California in July.

Hayden Wolff was only 12 years old when he was named Team Green Rider of the Year.

For his feats on the motocross track - accumulating the most points in Canada - Wolff, a member of the Prince George Motocross Association, won a 2013 Kawasaki 250cc dirt bike.

That was two years ago.

In 2014, Wolff, now 14 with more experience atop his bike, had another stellar season racing in the B.C. Motocross Association as part of the Canadian Kawasaki Team Green program and earned Team Green Rider of the Year.

His prize? A newer, shinier 2015 KX 250cc bike and $3,000.

"I was really excited to win the bike [this year], it's so cool," said Wolff recently. "I'm still racing with the first bike I won. I use it as a practice bike. I'll keep the new bike as a racing bike."

When he was 12, he was the youngest athlete to win the Team Green honours. So far he's the only racer in the Team Green program, one that he's been part of for four years, to win two bikes.

It's the fifth-straight year a PGMA athlete has been the top rider in the Team Green program. Parker Engel of Prince George won it in 2013.

If there's a word that describes Wolff, it's consistent.

In 2014, he raced in both the BCMA's North and South Series in the Junior MX2, Junior MX3 and Schoolboy classes. The North and Series is a circuit that includes stops in Terrace, Smithers, Prince George, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Chetwynd and Kamloops.

That's 12 races from April to September, racing six times per day both on Saturday and Sunday.

He won both the north and south series with the most points. In the junior MX2 class, he earned 808 points; tallied 858 points in the MX3 class and 823 points in the schoolboy class that consists of racers between 12 to 16-years-old.

Wolff's secret?

"I practise a lot on the Blackwater [PGMA's home track] three to four times a week," said Wolff, a Grade 9 Principal's list student at College Heights secondary. "I usually finish in the top-three in every race to win that many points. I just like riding and practising...I just rev it and go."

His points total in the North and South series also meant winning the Road Warrior, a $1,000 suspension package for his bike.

Not bad for someone who only hopped on the saddle of a 65cc bike five years ago and gradually moved up the ranks to bigger and faster bikes.

Last summer, he was also asked by Canadian Kawasaki to go California to test the 2015 KX250 bikes.

Wolff will travel to Abbotsford next month for the Vancouver Motorcycle Show, meet with Kawasaki officials and check out his new wheels. The new bike will will be shipped to Cycle North afterwards in Prince George.
