Volunteers will stick close to home

Volunteers for the 2015 Canada Winter Games won't have far to travel if they reside in Prince George. All but the alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding events are happening within city limits.

Volunteers for the 2015 Canada Winter Games won't have far to travel if they reside in Prince George.

All but the alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding events are happening within city limits.

Purden Mountain Resort, 70 kilometres east of the city, will host the slalom, giant slalom and super G skiing events as well as the snowboarding parallel giant slalom. Tabor Mountain Resort, 20 kilometres east, will have the snowboard half pipe, snowboardcross and slopestyle as well as the alpine skiing ski cross. Freestyle skiing will also be based at Tabor.

Cross-country skiing and biathlon will happen at Otway Nordic Centre.

The Northern Sport Centre will be the site of artistic gymnastics archery, badminton, and squash. The Coliseum and Elksentre will be used for figure skating and ringette .

Short-track speedskating will take place in the reconstructed Kin 1 arena, while CN Centre and Kin 2 will host women's and men's hockey. The Exhibition Park outdoor ice oval will be the site of long-track speed skating. The College of New Caledonia is the venue for target shooting and trampoline gymnastics. Synchronized swimming will be at the Aquatic Centre.

Curling is set for the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. Table tennis and target shooting will be at Duchess Park secondary school, while judo competitions will be at Kelly Road secondary school.
