Seven of the top high school volleyball teams in B.C. will be hammering kill shots in the Jon Bragg Memorial tournament, which starts tonight at College Heights secondary school.
The North Peace Oscars, Duchess Park Condors, D.P. Todd Trojans, College Heights Cougars, Bulkley Valley Christian Royals, Centennial Christian Seahawks and Houston Christian Wildcats will all be in uniform, and all are top-10 or honourable mention clubs in the provincial rankings.
North Peace, from Fort St. John, is currently rated seventh in the triple-A division. At double-A, Duchess Park and D.P. Todd are third and eighth respectively, while the host Cougars are in an honourable mention slot. In the single-A category, Bulkley Valley is ranked sixth (after falling from third last week), Centennial is seventh and Houston is 10th. The Bulkley Valley squad is from Smithers and Centennial is from Terrace.
Matches begin at 6 p.m. and will continue Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the two semifinal winners will play for gold at 8 p.m.
Pool A features Duchess Park, College Heights, PGSS, North Peace, Houston Christian and Caledonia from Terrace. Pool B includes Duchess Park 2, Kelly Road, D.P. Todd, Bulkley Valley Christian, College Heights 2 and Centennial Christian.
