UNBC senior forward Spencer Ledoux will be key to the T-wolves success next Wednesday when they take on the UBC Thunderbirds in Winnipeg in the Canada West men's basketball playoffs.

Now that the U SPORTS Canada West men’s basketball season is complete, the UNBC Timberwolves know who their opponents will be when the 12-team playoff tournament starts Wednesday in Winnipeg.

The T-wolves will take on the UBC Thunderbirds in a single-game-elimination play-in round game Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT.

It will mark the second time since UNBC joined Canada West in 2012 that the men will face the T-birds in a playoff game.

The T-wolves (9-11) finished with the 10th-best record but dropped down to 12th based on the RPI ranking which takes into account the strength of each team’s opponents.

UBC (14-6) finished fourth.

The UNBC-UBC winner will advance to a quarterfinal against the host Manitoba Bisons (15-5), who placed third in the 20-game regular season.

On Jan. 19, the T-wolves got 28 points from Chris Ross and cruised to a 88-69 victory over UBC at the Northern Sport Centre, which marked their first-ever home-court win over the T-birds. UBC won the rematch the following night 81-73.

UNBC has a 2-2 record head-to-head with UBC, dating back to last season.

All playoff games can be streamed live on Canada West TV.
