UNBC wants to avoid upset

CALGARY -- The UNBC Northern Timberwolves are No. 1, the Fanshawe College Falcons are No. 8. The Timberwolves don't need to be reminded that an upset is entirely possible.

CALGARY -- The UNBC Northern Timberwolves are No. 1, the Fanshawe College Falcons are No. 8. The Timberwolves don't need to be reminded that an upset is entirely possible.

With that in mind, they'll do everything possible to be at their best when they step onto the court today in Calgary.

The T-wolves and Falcons will do battle at SAIT Polytechnic, site of the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball national championship tournament. One year ago, when nationals were held in Prince George, the Timberwolves were seeded eighth and had to play the top-rated Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in an opening-round game. In front of a sell-out crowd at the Northern Sport Centre, UNBC nearly pulled off the ultimate feat of magic. The T-wolves led most of the way but eventually fell 74-72 to the Halifax-based Mystics. The winning shot was launched with just 27.4 seconds left on the clock.
