Mark Friday, Aug. 24 on the calendar if you want to witness a part of Prince George sports history.
On that night, the UNBC Timberwolves will officially christen their new home at the revamped Masich Place Stadium and its all-weather field. They will open their seventh Canada West season against the Victoria Vikes in the first of back-to-back games to start the U Sports schedule for the UNBC men in 2018.
The T-wolves face another tough test in their third and fourth games when they host the Trinity Western Spartans at Masich Stadium, Sept. 7-8. The following weekend they play the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon on Sunday, Sept. 16 - UNBC's only visit to Saskatchewan this season.
The T-wolves will play eight games at home and seven on the road. The 15-game season is due to an uneven number of teams in Canada West. Last year the T-wolves played a 16-game schedule and made the Canada West playoffs for the first time.
