After notching their first CIS Canada West men's basketball victory of the season last Friday in Kelowna, the UNBC Timberwolves are hoping home court advantage at the Northern Sport Centre will produce similar results this weekend.
But the T-wolves have a tall order on their hands trying to beat the Fraser Valley Cascades, who have blasted to the top of the Explorer Division standings with four straight victories to start the season.
UNBC is coming off a 78-57 loss to UBC Okanagan last Saturday, having defeated the Heat the previous night, 64-48. Fraser Valley hosted the Grant MacEwan Griffins of Edmonton last weekend and swept the series, 74-64 and 97-56.
The UNBC men take on the Cascades tonight at 8, preceded by the women's game at 6 p.m.
The women T-wolves bring an 0-4 record to the court. They lost both games in Kelowna to the Heat, 67-61 and 70-49. The Cascades are 2-2 this season. They split their series last weekend with Grant MacEwan, beating the Griffins 72-61, followed by a 63-59 loss.
UNBC and Fraser Valley meet again on the UNBC court on Saturday. The women's game is at 5 p.,m. and the men play at 7.
