The top student-athletes at UNBC were recognized Tuesday at the school's annual Academic All-Canadian reception and donor recognition night.
To be considered an Academic All-Canadian, a student-athlete must be an active member of a varsity team while achieving a grade point average of 3.67 or higher throughout the academic year.
Fifteen Timberwolves earned Academic All-Canadian status, part of a group of 3,101 students from universities across Canada.
With a team GPA of 3.06, the women's soccer team won the school's inaugural Presidential Academic Achievement Award, given to the Timberwolves varsity team with the highest GPA during the 2014-15 season.
The soccer team edged the women's basketball squad by .01 of a point for the award.
The women's soccer team had five Academic All-Canadians: Ashley Anderson, Jessica Erickson, Tanya Grob, Katia Hartwig and Jo Ribeiro.
There were five Academic All-Canadians from the men's soccer side: Francesco Bartolillo, Harjas Grewal, Darin Kamsteeg, Clay Kiiskila and Logan Phenuff.
Two athletes from the men's basketball squad were on the list: forwards Jeff Chu and Devin McMurtry.
There were three athletes from the women's basketball team: Jasprit Nijjar, Hannah Pudlas and Sarah Robin.
