Eleven UNBC student athletes who achieved excellence in the classroom and in their chosen sports in the 2015-16 school year have been named Academic All-Canadians by U Sports.
To be an Academic All-Canadian, a varsity-level athlete must have attained a grade point average of 3.67 (an A-minus) or higher. The UNBC award-winners all reached GPAs of at least 3.7.
UNBC's Academic All-Canadians are: Saje Gosal (political science, men's basketball); Jasprit Nijjar (biomedical studies, women's basketball); Clay Kiiskila (biomedical studies, men's soccer); Ashley Anderson (biomedical studies, women's soccer); Tanya Grob (biomedical studies graduate, women's soccer); Fiona Raymond (biology, women's soccer); Madeline Doucette (biomedical studies, women's soccer); Jesse Rake (biochemistry/molecular biology, men's soccer); Francesco Bartolillo (marketing, men's soccer); Haydn Molcak (biochemistry/molecular biology, men's basketball); and Jordan Hall (political science graduate, women's soccer).
"Our Academic All-Canadians and all of our student athletes continue to be ambassadors and leaders representing the university in Prince George, and northern B.C. locally, regionally, nationally and internationally," UNBC president Daniel Weeks said in a media release. "Their dedication to their sport and academics is outstanding."
The UNBC basketball teams play home-opening games on Friday night.
