If the timeline holds, the UNBC athletics department will have full-time soccer coaches in place by the end of May.
Jason Kerswill, UNBC athletics director, said some "amazing candidates" applied for the men's and women's head-coaching positions, job postings that closed on April 9.
"We're working our way through the process with our soccer coaches," he said. "We're really hoping that within the next three or four weeks we've got a men's and a women's coach to lead our program forward."
Kerswill said there were more than 35 applicants for the men's job and 16 for the women's. Some of the men's candidates, he said, indicated they would be open to coaching the women's team.
"We had plenty of interest, which was great to see," he added.
The Northern Timberwolves soccer teams spent five seasons in the B.C. college league and will move up to the Canada West Universities Athletic Association in September. As part of the jump to Canada West, full-time coaches were required.
For each of the past five years, Sonny Pawar has coached the male Timberwolves and Mato Mikic has guided the women's team, both on a part-time basis.
