As the university soccer season winds down the CIS basketball season is fast approaching for both the UNBC Timberwolves women's and men's teams.

Both teams were successful in exhibition action on the weekend. The women were on the road at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops where they posted a perfect 3-0 record, while the men swept a two-game set with the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association's Grande Prairie College Wolves at the Northern Sport Centre.

The UNBC men earned an 87-58 win over the Wolves Saturday and followed it up with a 98-79 win Sunday afternoon. The two wins leaves the T-wolf men with a 2-3 record.

Meanwhile, the UNBC women have won four straight games after dropping their first two in Edmonton the previous weekend. After a 64-54 win Friday over the Trinity Western Spartans, the T-wolves edged the UBC-Okanagan Heat 63-61 on Saturday before wrapping up the Thanksgiving weekend tournament with a 79-66 win over the TRU Wolfpack.

Both basketball teams are off this weekend and return to the court Oct. 25-26 for their final exhibition games against Quest University of the PACWEST college league. Game time is 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men.
