If you've ever played ultimate, otherwise known as Frisbee football, or even if you've never had that chance, Prince George Disc Sports has an offer you can't refuse.

On Friday, June 12 from 6-7 p.m. at Spruceland elementary school field (3805 Rainbow Dr.), Prince George will take part in the Art Hawkins Great Canadian Ultimate Game. The world's longest game of ultimate is a series of one-hour games starting earlier in the day in St. John's Nfld., and it ends the evening of Saturday, June 13 in Victoria.

Each community participating in the cross-Canada game will divide into two teams, red and white, which will play each other for one hour.

After that hour is complete the score of the game gets passed on to the next community. Once the final city competes the final accumulated score determines the winner.

Last year's 30-hour game started in Yellowknife, N.W.T., and was played in 28 other Canadian cities, as well as in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition to the Canadian communities involved in this year's game, three international cities - Dubai; Dublin, Ireland; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia - are taking part.

Money raised from the game will be donated to the Art Hawkins Development Fund to support accessibility and development of ultimate in Canada to help children, youth and people with disabilities, especially those in economically disadvantaged communities.

The object of the game in ultimate is to pass a disc to a teammate in the end zone to score points. It combines elements of football, soccer and basketball to create a fast-paced game played on a large rectangular field.
