At six-foot-five and 215 pounds, Mitch Elliot brings pure power to all his athletic pursuits.
During the Western Hockey League season, the 16-year-old Elliot was a punishing forward for the Seattle Thunderbirds. He's now back home for the spring and summer and is starting his warm-weather hobby, track and field.
At Saturday's Sub Zero meet, he was the centre of attention on the infield grass of Masich Place Stadium.
When a guy's doing the hammer throw and launching the ball and chain 50 metres, he tends to stand out from the crowd.
"It's really just a fun event," Elliot said. "You spin around and you just let it fly. What's not fun about throwing a five-kilogram ball 50 metres?"
