Trojans take Valleyview title

The D.P. Todd Trojans were the class of the field at a weekend senior girls basketball tournament in Kamloops.

Playing at Valleyview secondary, the Trojans won all three of their games, including a 55-31 victory against the Norkam Saints in Saturday's final.

"The girls played absolutely fantastic all weekend," said Trojans coach Reid Roberts, who also noted that the level of competition wasn't as high as it has been in some tournaments this season. "You never know what's going to happen when you play weaker teams. You're not quite sure if your team is going to step up and play where they should be playing at, and, this weekend, they did."

The Trojans went into the event as the sixth-ranked club in the provincial double-A division.
