Twenty-seven riders was not enough, and as a result, Sunday's Cyclelogic Tricycle Race at Pidherny has been cancelled.
Planned as a race to include a 40-kilometre road race, a 10 km cross-country mountain bike race and 4 km downhill mountain bike ride, only 13 solo riders and 14 teams entered. The event will go ahead as scheduled, but instead of a race it will be a group ride with cash prizes available to the top riders.
The ride will start at the Hart Community Centre on Austin Road, following Chief Lake Road to Nukko Lake store. Riders will then turn around and go to the upper parking lot of the Pidherny recreation area across from Vellencher Road. After 40 kilometres on the roads, team riders will tag the downhill mountain bikers, who will take a two-kilometre plunge down a trail called Carcass to the skills park on Pidherny Road. The cross-country riders then take over and will ride two 6.5-kilometre loops to the finish. The cross-country course follows the new single-track trail, Green Eggs and Ham, then climbs up Pidnerny Road on the Ten Dollar and Valve Job trails, leading back to the skills park.
At 4 p.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the skills park to officially open the new trails.
