Once again, Trevor Sprague will be calling the shots for the Cariboo Cougars.
On Tuesday, Sprague received notification from B.C. Hockey that he'll be the club's head coach for the 2011-12 Major Midget League season. He'll be in his fifth season as bench boss of the 15- to 17-year-old regional rep team.
In the past three regular seasons, Sprague has compiled an 80-34-6 record with the Cougars. In 2009-10, he was named the MML's coach of the year.
For the past two years, the Cats finished second to the Vancouver Northwest Giants in the regular season and playoffs.
Sprague's first season at the helm of the program was 2004-05. In that, the league's inaugural year, he stepped in part way through the regular schedule as a replacement for Mark Miller. Sprague took over a 5-8-1 club and led it to an overall record of 11-9-8. The team, known at the time as the Cariboo Canucks, ended up advancing to the provincial championship game but lost 4-2 to the top-seeded Thompson Blazers.
