Prince George high jumper Alyx Treasure cleared the bar at 1.85 metres and won gold at the Jim Click Shootout Track and Field meet at the University of Arizona in Tucson on Saturday.

Treasure, who grew up in Prince George and now competes for the Kansas State Wildcats, set a new personal best with her leap.

Her previous PB was 1.84m she set at the Texas Relays in 2012 and secured the No. 7 spot in the school's history.

Besides the visiting Wildcats, the NCAA meet featured college teams from Air Force (Colorado Springs, Colo.), New Mexico State, Washington State and host Arizona.

Treasure, a sophomore who stands at six-feet, three-quarter inches, cleared the bar on her first attempts at 1.70m, 1.75m and 1.80m. She missed her first attempt at 1.85m but was successful on her second attempt. Her gold medal jump is almost the equivalent of her height.

Treasure defeated the Air Force's Rachel Herald, who won silver with her jump at 1.75m. Treasure's K-State teammate Joslyn Barnes won bronze with her jump of 1.70m.
