Gold Coast, gold medal.

That's the goal for high jumper Alyx Treasure when she walks out in front of the crowd at Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia on Saturday morning (9:25 p.m. PT) to compete in her first Commonwealth Games.

As the third-ranked female high jumper in the Commonwealth, the 25-year-old from Prince George, ranked 18th in the world, is a legitimate medal threat.

Two years ago, Treasure represented Canada at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August 2016.

In the qualifying round she cleared the bar with a personal-best leap of 1.94 metres, becoming the first Prince George athlete ever to advance to a final at the Summer Olympics.

She went on to finish 17th.

Treasure, a five-time All-American track star at Kansas State, competed in her first world championships last summer in London, England and finished 21st.

She's now based in Toronto and has been competing in International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) indoor meets and set a new indoor personal best Feb. 16 in Ann Arbor, Mich., when she cleared 1.90m.

The Prince George Track and Field Club member has also competed in indoor events this year in the Czech Republic, Germany and Scotland.
