According to the sports network's Farhan Lalji, John Tortorella is to be relieved of his duties as head coach, one season after taking over for Alain Vigneault.
Also on Thursday, the Vigneault-led New York Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 at home to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Finals. According to the Toronto Star, Tortorella leaves the Canucks after one season with a 36-35-11 record. The squad missed the NHL playoffs for the first time in six years.
