Natasha Tyzler-Williams is being pursued by several Canadian Interuniversity Sport basketball teams. She'll be in Prince George this week to spend some time with the UNBC Northern Timberwolves.

Tyzler-Williams, a five-foot-10 forward from Toronto, will be on the Northern Sport Centre court Thursday through Saturday. From all the information UNBC head coach Loralyn Murdoch has pieced together, Tyzler-Williams -- currently a Grade 12 student at St. Joseph's College -- has the required skills to become a CIS-level player.

"I've watched her play on game tape," Murdoch said. "She's athletic and I think she's going to be able to get up and down the floor fairly well. She comes highly-recommended from her high school coach and from a fellow that I had watch some games for me so I'm really hoping that she'll come in and play hard and be physically tough -- that's kind of what we're looking for.

"She's being looked at by the smaller CIS schools," Murdoch added. "I think she definitely has the potential to play CIS. I think there are some smaller schools like ourselves and some in Ontario that would look to develop her over time."

The Timberwolves, who have competed at the B.C. college level throughout their history, are moving to the Canada West conference of the CIS for the 2012-13 season.

Murdoch already has two new recruits for next season. They are forward Lauren Lamont of Maple Ridge and point guard Jordyn Rabbitt of Salmon Arm.

In other news, Murdoch received the Mary Campbell Award at the Basketball B.C. Hall of Fame Gala on the weekend. The award recognizes significant contributions to the sport by a woman.

Earlier this year, Murdoch -- who has been involved with the UNBC program since 1997 -- was chosen as coach of the year in the PACWEST Athletic Association.
